What is Zoning & Permits?
The information included on this page is intended to help our citizens and applicants navigate the zoning and permit process to produce successful projects that comply with applicable regulations.
Wasco County is required to implement the Oregon Statewide Planning Goals and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Act. In 1983, Wasco County adopted a Comprehensive Plan to create a framework for how to implement the Oregon Statewide Planning Goals at the local level. In 1992, the Columbia River Gorge Commission and U.S. Forest Service National Scenic Area Office adopted the Management Plan for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. These two plans provide the basis for the Wasco County land use and development ordinances (LUDOs) and zoning maps that guide and regulate new development in Wasco County at the local level, outside of the incorporated communities. All of these documents are available in the brown box to the left of this text.
