The Wasco County Youth Services offers a Community Work program for youth to earn funds to pay victims restitution. Local citizens and businesses donate wood to both the Community Action Program and the Department of Youth Services to meet community needs. Youth who have obligations to victims can complete community work service and their work hours can be converted to a payment provided to their victim. This allows for victim restoration and a meaningful way for youth to held accountable.
Firewood is a seasonal product that is available for order starting each year on the 2nd Monday of July. The wood is received from the Public Works department or from private donations. It is cut and stacked in the wood bays to season.
Firewood must season for at least 9 months before it will be sold. Wood we receive today will be processed, seasoned and then ready to sell for next year's season. There is a limit of four cords of wood per order to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of the community and cords must be purchased in 0.5 increments.
Please contact us at (541) 506-2665 if you have any further questions about this process or want an update on availability before submitting your request. If you are interested in being put on a list for next year, please leave a message on the contact phone number.
