The Mid-Columbia Economic Development District (MCEDD) Board adopted the Wasco County Transit Development Plan in June 2022. Before this important plan can be adopted by Wasco County, its policies must be incorporated into the County's Transportation System Plan (TSP). The County received a grant to complete this work in late 2022 and 2023.
Before updating the TSP, the Planning Department will reach out to seasonal agriculture and tourism employers and employees. In addition, the County is interested in hearing from residents in southern Wasco County communities including Maupin, Tygh Valley, Wamic, Pine Hollow, and Pine Grove. The project will examine how Wasco County can enhance its rural transportation network – including transit service, walking/biking facilities, and rural transportation services for those who do not have access to a car.
This project will include individual interviews with agriculture/tourism employers, nonprofit service providers, and leaders in South Wasco County. In late winter and spring 2023, two public workshops will be scheduled in the Maupin area and Tygh Valley/Wamic/Pine Hollow area. Wasco County will also engage with tribal leaders in the Warm Springs and Simnasho areas. Stay tuned for project updates on this page.
