What is Code Compliance?

The Wasco County Code Compliance program is a complaint-driven program with jurisdiction to resolve code compliance and nuisance needs on private properties located outside of the incorporated cities of Wasco County. We strive to achieve voluntary compliance where ever possible with willing landowners. We do this by working with the property owners to assist them in obtaining any necessary permits for development; provide helpful resources for voluntary clean-up and disposal; require abatement actions; and in rare circumstances - enforce with fines or liens on the property to require action.

The Code Compliance Officer is a full-time position within the Wasco County Planning Department and works closely with the Planning Department staff and other County programs and partner agencies to assist customers as efficiently as possible. The program’s goal is to bring all properties into compliance with the Wasco County Code Compliance and Nuisance Abatement Ordinance.
