Upcoming Election Information

General Election November 5, 2024
After the May 2024 Primary Election, the top candidates from the political parties advance to the General Election which will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The General Election is also where county positions for Clerk, Sheriff and Treasurer are elected. City positions (Mayor, Councilor, and in some cases Recorder) are elected at the General Election.

 General Election Deadlines
  • June 5, 2024 – First day for candidate to file for office for local offices filled at General Election (i.e. city offices)
  • August 16, 2024 - Last day for governing body to file referral text or prepared ballot title in order to complete challenge period
  • August 27, 2024 - Last day for candidate to file for office
  • August 27, 2024 - Last day to file or withdraw candidate statements for State voters' pamphlet
  • November 5, 2024 - Election Day. County Clerk's Office is open 7 am - 8 pm. Last day for voter to return ballot. Ballots that are mailed must be postmarked on or before Election Day. Ballots deposited in an official drop box must be received by 8 pm on Election Day. Unofficial election results will be released at 8 pm and at final count for the evening (typically around midnight).
Candidates 
The Wasco County positions of Clerk, Sheriff and Treasurer  - having passed the March 12, 2024 filing deadline - are automatically nominated to the General Election ballot. Click on the name to see the candidate's filing form.

If you are interested in running for a city candidate office (councilor, mayor), please contact your city recorder for more information. The filing deadline is August 27, 2024.

Positions for local People's Utility Districts (PUDs) will be announced closer to the June opening date for filing.
