Each of the Chambers of Commerce and Travel Oregon resources listed to the left have wonderful resources for you to use as you're planning your journey through Wasco County! Below are  a few highlights for you to start. 

Take a Tour of The City of The Dalles Murals

The City of The Dalles is home to 16 different beautifully painted murals that depict historical events that have occurred in the area. Each mural has been painted by local northwest artists. If you are a visiting the area, you'll find that several of the murals have voice boxes with audio narration.  These narrated stories have been recorded by historians, Native Americans, or the artist that created the mural. Eastern Gorge Wine Adventure: The Growing Season Awakens
A relaxed two days of wine touring through the Eastern Gorge, highlighting the natural delights of spring and early summer.  Visit the Columbia Gorge Wine website for details and a great itinerary! 

36 Hours in Dufur 
Take a visit to the Dufur Community to spend a night in the last century, explore the countryside, and use this incredible town as your home base for explorations in the Columbia Gorge and Mt Hood Region. For the full itinerary, visit the Dufur Chamber's webpage

Cycling in Wasco County
There are wonderful opportunities for cycling throughout Wasco County! From rolling hills meandering through wheat country to explorations on the eastern slopes of Mt. Hood to cycling along the Columbia River cyclists can find an adventure for any skill level.  There are a few resources available as you plan your visit: www.thedallesroads.com or visit RideOregonRide.com to explore a variety of rides and scenic bikeways that roll through Wasco County. 

Explore the Historic Columbia River Highway
Starting in Troutdale and running along the Columbia through the Gorge National Scenic Area, drivers, cyclists, and hikers can explore all-or pieces of the Historic Columbia River Highway.  In Wasco County, check Historic Hwy 30 between Mosier and The Dalles to roll through the incredible Rowena loops, and walk or bike the Mosier Twin Tunnels Trail!

Northwest Cherry Festival
The Northwest Cherry Festival takes place in downtown The Dalles from Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23, 2023. The Festival includes the Gorge’s largest parade, classic car show, a 10k race, and lots of great local music and bands. There’s also cherry sampling with the Oregon Cherry Growers, craft vendors, agriculture job fair, Cherry Idol, and the Carnival.The Dalles has much more to offer though the festival alone could keep you busy. Maupin Daze: A River Festival on the Deschutes
Saturday, May 18th in Maupin explore events around town and reconnect with the River! For details visit www.maupinoregon.com - while you're there find out about other great events in Maupin!

Gorge Hops and Hogs Brew Fest 

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and Sedition Brewing Co. proudly present the Gorge Hops and Hogs Fest, held at Lewis & Clark Festival Park in The Dalles, Oregon, .  The family-friendly event features Pacific Northwest Craft Breweries featuring their special Summer Brews, BBQ Challenge, music, food, yard games, kids zone and a variety of vendors.  There are free admission, games, and BBQ samples while supplies last. Whether you prefer Belgians or Blondes, Pales or Pilsners, Saisons or Sours — come to The Gorge Hops and Hogs Festival and taste for yourself! For more information, visit their Facebook Page

Dufur Threshing Bee
An entire weekend of fun in Dufur includes a parade, artisan and food booths, exhibits at the Living History Museum, a quilt show, and vintage tractor demonstrations, and don't forget the Sock Hop in the evening! The second weekend in August every summer! For more info, visit the Dufur Historical Society's webpage.

Shaniko Days
The first weekend in August, head on out to Shaniko for a parade, great music, some delicious bar-b-que and other old time Western favorites! More details are here!

Wasco County Fair and Rodeo
Held in August, the Wasco County Fair has been held in Tygh Valley, OR since 1937. More information can be found on the Fair, Fairgrounds and Hunt Park page.

Tygh Valley Blue Grass Festival 
This event takes place the 4th (usually the last) weekend in September at the Wasco County Fairgrounds, one "country mile" outside of Tygh Valley, Oregon. Committed to preserving and promoting historic music, by performance opportunities and educational activities in the bluegrass genre.
