Fingerprinting

Obtain a Fingerprint Card

Fingerprinting is done by appointment only. Please contact the Wasco County Sheriff's Office at (541) 506-2580 to check on the availability of appointments.


Bring current government issued identification with you.

If you have fingerprint cards, please do not fill in the blanks.
If you were given an affidavit by the agency requesting your fingerprints, please remember to bring that with you.

Police Reports

Make a Police Report
To file a police report for incidents which occurred in Wasco County outside The Dalles city limits call 541-296-5454 or visit the Sheriff's Office located at 511 Washington Street, Suite 102, The Dalles, OR, during regular business hours.

For incidents that occurred within The Dalles city limits call 541-296-2233 or visit City of The Dalles Police Department located at 401 Court Street, The Dalles, OR.
Request a Copy of a Police Report
Wasco County Sheriff's Office is committed to providing public access to records in a manner that is consistent with the Oregon Public Records Law. (ORS 192.311 to 192.478)

If there are criminal charges, the report will not be releasable until the case has been closed or adjudicated. The State of Oregon Department of Human Services is the authority that may release records of child abuse pursuant to Oregon Revised Statutes 419B.035 (if the reports are subject to disclosure).

Public records request shall be made in writing. Please complete the Public Records Request form and submit it in one of the following manners:
(a) email it to sheriff@co.wasco.or.us
(b) fax it to 541-506-2581
(c) hand deliver it to our office located at 511 Washington Street, Suite 102, The Dalles, OR 97058. 
(d) mail it to Attn: Records Division, Wasco County Sheriff's Office, 511 Washington St,  Suite 102, The Dalles, OR 97058.

Written public records requests shall be responded to without unreasonable delay, in accordance with Oregon law and Lexipol Wasco County Policy 804.4.

Restraining Order

Obtain a Restraining Order
The Sheriff's Office does not issue restraining orders. Restraining orders are granted by the judge of the Circuit Court. Wasco County Circuit Court is on the third floor of the County Courthouse located at 511 Washington Street, The Dalles, OR.  Phone number is 541-506-2700.

Concealed Handgun License

Apply for Concealed Handgun License
Wasco County Sheriff's Office issues concealed handgun license in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 166.291 through 166.297.

Submission of an application for a Concealed Handgun License renewal, new applicant, or applicant transferring from another county is done in person and by appointment only. You may schedule your appointment online with the "book now" calendar. Calendar

Wasco County does not issue to out-of-state residents.

What to bring to the appointment:
1) Completed application
2) Proof of United States citizenship
3) Proof of residency in Wasco County
4) Proof of handgun safety course (outlined in ORS 166.291)
5) Two pieces of identification with your signature (one must have a picture and signature)
6) Correct fees. Fees are non-refundable and cover processing costs according to Oregon law.Fees
7) Note: All applicants (new and renewals will be photographed). New applicants and transfers will be fingerprinted.
