Finance

Finance Department is responsible for:

Budget:
The annual budget is in excess of $30 million representing over 25 individual funds. Activities include revenue projections, budget monitoring and ensuring that a legally adopted budget is in place by July 1 of each year.

Accounting: Payroll services are delivered for 135+ employees on a semimonthly basis plus full benefit administration. All general ledger and period-end close activities are performed monthly. In addition, external audit information is electronically transferred annually and a variety of audit work papers and schedules are prepared. All processes are tested periodically for compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies.

System Administration: Wasco County has a decentralized finance system, with over 65 active department users. Department users are able to access all financial information and initiate their own financial transactions. Departments have the ability to monitor their financial status daily, with "real time" reporting readily available. With a decentralized system, much effort and attention is given to the design and effectiveness of electronic access and internal controls.
