Roles and Responsibilities

The Commission helps to meet the statutory requirements of Wasco County under the 1987, "Regional Economic Development Act," passed by the Oregon Legislative Assembly. This act requires all counties to develop regional strategies, through a citizen involvement process, to achieve economic recovery and growth for the Region and State. The Commission is advisory only and the general purposes of the Commission are as follows:

  1. To be an information source;
  2. To provide advice and guidance to the Board of Commissioners on countywide economic development and quality of life issues for citizens at the grass roots level; and,
  3. To be a forum for citizens to request assistance from the Board of Commissioners on accomplishing economic development projects and solving economic development problems.
