Brief Description:
We assess property values in order to calculate and collect property taxes to fund local taxing districts. Provide customer service. Responsible for reading deeds and maintaining property ownership; Business Personal Property; Manufactured Structures; plats, lot line adjustments, cancel & combines, segregations of property; exemption programs; special assessment programs.
Tax Collection certifies the tax roll; collects current and delinquent taxes; turns over collections to Treasurer for distribution to all taxing districts; processes foreclosures; manages bankruptcies; does personal property warrants and garnishments; submits yearly audit reports of all tax collections; handles tax appeals; does correction/journal vouchers; processes Fire/Act of God Applications; processes refunds; collects advance collections; and other related work as required.
