The Wasco County Commission on Children & Families (WCCCF) plans, advocates and mobilizes the community to act on behalf of children, youth, and families; promoting their health, safety, and well being. In addition, WCCCF receives and manages grant resources, such as state, federal, and private foundation grants for distribution to community based agencies, organizations, and individuals. Grant resources include, but not limited to:

• Oregon Commission on Children & Families allocates both state and federal funds to Wasco County for services and support to children ages 0-18 and their families.

• SAMHSA awarded Wasco County Prevention Coalition a 5 year Drug Free Communities Grant in 2001. The Coalition focuses on reducing substance abuse among youth in Wasco County, and over time, among our adult population by addressing the factors in our county that increase the risk of substance abuse. The Prevention Coalition's goal is to promote, create, and develop protective factors that will in turn minimize the risk of substance abuse.
• Oregon Community Foundation awarded WCCCF a three year grant that will help support parents by increasing parenting skills through evidence based programming on a continuing basis.
• Ford Family Foundation awarded WCCCF a grant that allowed for the hiring of a half time Parent Support Coordinator. Our focus is to create and develop a solid parent support structure where enthusiasm and initiation are heightened and encouraged by all Wasco County parents.
• Criminal Justice Prevention allocates state funding to WCCCF to support services that will help prevent crime.
